Â鶹´«Ã½ Family Day BBQ Competition Set for September 13

MACOMB, IL - The Â鶹´«Ã½ Illinois University Office of Student Engagement and the School of Agriculture are excited to host the seventh annual Family Day BBQ Competition & Tasting from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13 in Q Lot, bringing together students, families, alumni and community members for a day full of food, fun and Leatherneck pride.
This year's Family Day BBQ will feature:
Live music from Newhouse Band
Family-friendly activities for all ages
Unique vendors
A competitive bag tournament
A sizzling BBQ showdown for the title of Best BBQ
A public tasting featuring brisket, ribs and each team's People's Choice specialty items
The festivities will culminate in the Leathernecks football game at Hanson Field, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
"The Family Day BBQ is one of Â鶹´«Ã½'s most beloved traditions," Nick Katz, director of Student Engagement, said. "It's an opportunity for our campus and community to come together and celebrate what makes Â鶹´«Ã½ so special — great food, great people and great Leatherneck spirit."
