Go West Security Officers Receive End of Semester Recognition

MACOMB, IL - - Several Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Illinois University students were honored for their work as Go West Security Officers during the Spring semester.
Lieutenant Nakyah Smith was recognized for her four years of dedication to Go West Security as she graduates with her Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration this spring. She received a Certificate of Appreciation and a Years of Service Award.
Master Sergeant Kelly Loghry, a junior Law Enforcement and Justice Administration (LEJA) major from Plainfield and Master Sergeant Ariella Ducoing, a sophomore LEJA major from Moline, were both awarded the Outstanding Executive Board Member Award during the 2025 Office of Student Engagement Leadership Awards.
Additionally, Loghry was honored as the 2025 second runner-up for the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Student Employee of the Year Award on April 21.
Three promotions were announced:
- Payton Lourian, sophomore LEJA major from San Diego, CA, was promoted to Master Sergeant.
- Ducoing was promoted to Lieutenant.
- Ian Thomas, junior Forensic Chemistry major from Dixon, was promoted to Corporal.
- Justice Walker, junior LEJA major from Chicago, was promoted to Corporal.
- Jayme Hamilton, junior LEJA major from Buffalo - Probationary Guard of the Semester.
- Daniel Griffin, junior Graphic Design major from Chicago.
- Samantha Hernandez, junior LEJA major from Zion.
The GoWest Security Program, which began in 2005, was created to provide students an opportunity for hands-on, practicum-driven experience, while also providing a service to the University community.
