This day has been established to introduce the new winter annual crop Field Pennycress to local producers. Researchers along with industry representatives will be present to discuss this very unique short season crop. We have completed 5 years of research towards the development and commercial launch of pennycress. Research will be presented on projects funded by the IPREFER NIFA-CAP project, the USDA and DOE IPREP project focused on abiotic stresses impacting pennycress production, Illinois Soybean Association looking at crop rotations with pennycress, and Illinois NREC study looking at the impact of cover crops on N&P efficiency, carbon sequestration, and economics on Illinois crop rotations.

We will discuss the results from the previous year and have a chance to tour the plots including live demonstrations of optical seed sorting and seed oil extraction. There will be plenty of time for pictures and individual questions. If you have any questions or would like to bring a large group, please contact Dr. Win Phippen for more details at wb-phippen@wiu.edu.
